YouTube video Foundation.
You read some touching stories about simplifying your life on HGTV.
Maybe, just maybe, you can build a baby like this yourself.
Second home in the mountains, here we are!
But get the truth bomb ready: It\'s not as simple as it looks.
You can\'t just buy one container, cut one or two windows, then put it down and start catching up with Game of Thrones.
This is a process.
In fact, in almost everything imaginable, the job is best left for professionals to do.
So we found one and let us know the real story behind the container movement.
Susan Freman, chairman of Freman Design Group and CEO of stone throwing builders, designed more than 40 homes
Four use containers
And have more plans.
Question: The house you designed-
The MI terminal does not look like a container at a glance or two.
What is behind this design?
Susan Freman: typical container houses look strange in the landscape.
I own the property where the house is located and have built several other more traditional houses in the area.
I want something that fits well with other houses, and at the same time have that modern feeling.
Q: Is there any secret?
We used two containers and a traditional wooden stick building.
The containers form the kitchen, living room and dining room side by side.
The traditional building was completed in the center.
Q: Why is the center?
SF: you don\'t have to do that, but it\'s a cheaper option.
When you have a traditional foundation in the center, it\'s much easier (and cheaper)
Install pipes and appliances for your home.
Q: So you can\'t put the container on a typical slab basis? SF: Oh no.
There must be a foundation somewhere in the hotel.
But there are many choices.
We put the container on the dock.
They will hold on for a long time.
Sitting like this
Q: It sounds more complicated than the internet makes us believe.
SF: When I first saw the container design, I thought, \"We have to try it out.
Let\'s see what we need to know to achieve this.
\"But all this is not easy as I said.
There is a lot of learning built in this way.
This is a home, not a trailer.
This is complicated.
Q: So this is not something that anyone can DIY?
I do not recommend this.
Every part of it is heavy and awkward.
You have to have a team and a heavy-
Just to move it.
You can\'t just cut in.
Everything has to be welded together.
Of course, \"Don\'t try this at home.
Q: Still, even if you have to hire a designer, it should be cheaper to build a container house than a traditional one, right?
I totally disagree with that.
Container building is very important for reducing waste and recycling materials.
That\'s what I\'m here.
But it still has a lot of things.
Q: Speaking of which, where can you find the container?
Which one do you use is very important?
San Francisco: We have a dealer in Chicago who sold us one. Travel container.
We do not want to deal with situations where they are broken or damaged.
Too much travel means too many opportunities to know what they have. Multiple-
Dents can be made using containers.
The floor was ground from the trip.
We are also looking for high boys \".
They\'re basically 9-foot-
High container so we have some extra ceiling space to use.
Q: Can you paint the exterior of the container or add a traditional drywall to it?
You can, but we can\'t.
I have them exposed to the original tag and everything.
You can see some containers at home, but I think it adds to the sense of reduction and reuse of this stuff.
Q: It looks great from the outside, but how does it feel at home?
Will the weather be too cold or too loud?
That\'s what you think, but not at all.
Quiet and great sound.
The house you live in is beautiful.
