Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Aureliano, the international cooperation advisor to the President of Nicaragua
On May 12, 2025, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Foreign Minister, met in Beijing with Laureano, an advisor to the President of Nicaragua on international cooperation, and Gianteske, Foreign Minister. Wang Yi said that under the strategic guidance of the heads of state of the two countries, China-Nepal relations have achieved rapid development and fruitful results have been achieved in practical cooperation. In 2023, China and Nepal established a strategic partnership, opening a new chapter in bilateral relations. Last year, the bilateral trade volume between China and Nepal increased significantly, and Nepal's exports to China grew rapidly, fully demonstrating the mutually beneficial nature and broad space of practical cooperation between the two countries. China is willing to consolidate high-level mutual trust with Nepal, continue to provide assistance within its capacity to Nepal, give priority to implementing cooperation projects conducive to Nepal's accelerated independent development, support Chinese enterprises in investing and doing business in Nepal, and believe that Nepal will continue to adhere to friendly relations with China and provide a favorable business environment. Wang Yi said that China and Nepal are both countries in the Global South and have a glorious tradition of not fearing power. China firmly supports Latin America in safeguarding its sovereignty, independence and national dignity. The essence of China-Latin America cooperation is South-South cooperation, which is neither targeted nor interfered by any third party. We are willing to continue to strengthen unity and cooperation with the Latin American side, promote the development of the international order in a just and reasonable direction, and join hands to build a community with a shared future for mankind. It is believed that with the joint efforts of both sides, this ministerial meeting will achieve the expected goals and open up new prospects for China-Latin America cooperation. Laureano said that since the resumption of diplomatic relations between Nepal and China, thanks to the care and guidance of the heads of state of the two countries, cooperation in various fields between the two countries has continued to deepen, setting an example of mutual respect and equal treatment among countries of all sizes. Nicaragua values the brotherhood between Nicaragua and China, firmly adheres to the One-China principle, and will continue to stand firmly with China to oppose unilateral acts of imposing excessive tariffs. Thank China for its active role in promoting Latin American integration. Nepal firmly supports cooperation between Latin America and China and believes that the ministerial meeting of the China-Latin America Forum tomorrow will surely be a complete success.
